MediaTek Filogic 360 Wi-Fi 7 Chip Certified by Wi-Fi Alliance
It is said that MediaTek's new Wi-Fi 7 chip, the Filogic 360, has been certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance. Like Filogic 380, the chip is expected to be installed in new Wi-Fi 7 terminal devices, such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, and set-top boxes.
According to relevant media reports, MediaTek company released Filogic 880 and Filogic 380 as early as May 2022, adopting a 6 nm process, which is officially said to be the industry’s first Wi-Fi 7 solution. Let's take a look about Filogic 380:
The Filogic 380 is based on a 6 nm process and supports dual-band, dual-concurrency, up to a peak Wi-Fi 7 speed of 6.5Gbps. It also supports the latest Wi-Fi 7 technologies, such as:
- 360MHz bandwidth support: This allows the chip to transmit more data at once, resulting in faster speeds.
- 4096-QAM: This modulation technique allows the chip to pack more data into each signal, further increasing speeds.
- MLO (Multi-Link Operation): This technology allows the chip to connect to multiple Wi-Fi networks simultaneously, which can improve performance in crowded areas.
- MRU (Maximum Receive Unit): This setting allows the chip to receive larger packets of data, which can improve throughput.
Compare to the Filogic 380, what will the Filogic 360 bring to us? It is worth to expect.
The certification of the Filogic 360 will be a significant milestone for the development of Wi-Fi 7. It is the first Wi-Fi 7 chip to be certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance, and it paves the way for the commercialization of Wi-Fi 7 devices.
Wi-Fi 7 is the next generation of Wi-Fi technology. It offers a number of improvements over previous Wi-Fi generations, including:
- Faster speeds: Wi-Fi 7 can deliver speeds up to 30 times faster than Wi-Fi 5.
- Lower latency: Wi-Fi 7 can reduce latency by up to 75%.
- Better range: Wi-Fi 7 can extend the range of Wi-Fi networks by up to 50%.
- More capacity: Wi-Fi 7 can support more devices on a single network.
The certification of the Filogic 360 is a major step forward for Wi-Fi 7. It is expected that Wi-Fi 7 devices will start to be released in the coming months. These devices will offer a significant improvement in wireless performance, making it possible to stream 8K video, play online games, and download large files at lightning speeds.
