How to set SD card as your device's default storage?
If you're running low on storage space on your Android device, you can use an SD card to expand your storage. You can even set your SD card as the device's default download storage, so that all new apps, photos, videos, movies, songs, and other files are saved to the SD card by default.
To do this, you need a phone with expandable storage. To set your SD card as the primary storage, you'll need to format the SD card as internal storage. This will erase all data on the SD card, so make sure to back up any important files before you proceed. Besides, make sure your device is running on Android 6.0 or newer.
Below are the steps:
- 1. Insert the SD card into your device.
- 2. Open the Settings app.
- 3. Tap Storage.
- 4. Select your SD card.
- 5. Tap the three dots in the upper right corner.
- 6. Tap Storage settings.
- 7. Toggle on the Use as internal storage switch.
- 8. Tap Format.
- 9. Tap Format again to confirm.
Your SD card will now be formatted as internal storage and will be used as the default storage for all new apps, photos, videos, and other files.
