A full guide about the 6E of WiFi version.

Welcome to Blackview (A well-known brand of rugged tablet and smartphone) blog.

WiFi 6E is the latest iteration of the WiFi standard, that operates in the 6 GHz frequency band and provides faster and more stable networks. It is an extension of WiFi 6 (802.11ax), which was introduced to address the increasing demand for faster and more reliable wireless connectivity in homes, offices, and public spaces.

Wi-Fi 6E

The "E" in WiFi 6E stands for "Extended", indicating the expansion of available spectrum for WiFi devices. Prior to the introduction of WiFi 6E, WiFi networks primarily operated in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands. However, these bands have become increasingly crowded due to the proliferation of WiFi-enabled devices, resulting in congestion and reduced performance.

Which devices support Wi-Fi 6E?

Here are some of the devices that support Wi-Fi 6E:

  • Smartphones: Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, Asus ROG Phone 5s, Asus ZenFone 8
  • Laptops: Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4, Acer Predator Triton 500 SE (PT516-52s), Acer Predator Helios 300 (PH315-55)
  • Tablets: Apple iPad Pro 11-inch (4th generation) and iPad Pro 12.9 inch (6th generation)
  • Routers: Netgear Nighthawk AX1800, TP-Link Archer AX73, Asus RT-AX89X
  • Gaming consoles: Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S
  • Smart TVs: Samsung QN900B, LG OLED C2

By utilizing the 6 GHz frequency band, WiFi 6E offers several advantages over previous WiFi standards. Firstly, it provides a significantly wider channel bandwidth, allowing for faster data transfer speeds and increased network capacity. This is particularly beneficial for applications that require high-bandwidth connections, such as video streaming, online gaming, and virtual reality.

Moreover, the introduction of WiFi 6E brings about a substantial increase in available non-overlapping channels. This means that there are more channels available for devices to operate on without interference from neighboring networks. As a result, WiFi 6E networks can provide improved reliability and reduced latency compared to previous generations.

Another key feature of WiFi 6E is its support for multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) technology. This technology enables simultaneous communication with multiple devices by dividing the available spectrum into smaller sub-channels. With MU-MIMO, WiFi 6E access points can serve multiple clients simultaneously, improving overall network efficiency and performance.

In addition to these technical enhancements, Wi-Fi 6E also benefits from regulatory advantages. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the United States has opened up the 6 GHz frequency band for unlicensed use, allowing Wi-Fi 6E devices to operate without the need for a license. This decision has paved the way for the widespread adoption of Wi-Fi 6E and the deployment of high-performance wireless networks.

The introduction of WiFi 6E brings significant improvements to wireless connectivity, offering faster speeds, increased capacity, reduced latency, and improved reliability. It is expected to revolutionize various industries that rely on wireless communication, including healthcare, education, manufacturing, and entertainment.
