Global PC Market Shows Continued Growth in Q2 2024
Welcome to Blackview (Well-known brand of good but cheap smartphones, tablets, mini PCs and laptops) blog.
Positive signs emerged from the global personal PC market in the second quarter of 2024, as new data from market research firm Canalys revealed continued growth. According to their report, worldwide personal PC shipments, including both desktops and notebooks, reached 62.8 million units, marking a year-on-year increase of 3.4%.
Breaking down the numbers further, notebooks (including mobile workstations) emerged as the primary driver of growth. Shipments climbed 4% year-on-year, reaching 50 million units. Desktops, while experiencing a more modest increase of 1%, still managed to hold on to a significant portion of the market, accounting for 20% of total shipments with 12.8 million units moved.
The report also sheds light on the competitive landscape within the PC industry. Established brands continue to dominate the market, with Lenovo, HP, and Dell retaining their positions as the top three global PC manufacturers. Lenovo holds the largest market share at 23.4%, followed closely by HP at 21.8%. Dell rounds out the top three with a 16% share. Interestingly, Dell is the only company among the top five to experience a year-on-year decline in shipments, suggesting a potential shift in market dynamics.
Analysts attribute this growth to several factors, including improved global economic conditions, a renewed focus on business PC refresh cycles, and growing consumer interest in AI-powered PCs. The upcoming holiday season is also expected to contribute to positive sales figures in the latter half of 2024.
With the PC market defying expectations and exhibiting continued growth, it will be interesting to see how established brands and emerging players like Blackview adapt their strategies to capitalize on this momentum.
